Coming this June, the Chamber of Commerce will introduce a new statue to be displayed at the Village Gazebo. It’s a summer launch you won’t want to miss, so mark your calendars for the official unveiling of Ellicottville’s newest art installation. Honoring the strong women in our community and local businesses, the Chamber of Commerce is happy to announce the addition of a 10-foot-tall bronze sculpture commemorating American Astronaut, Dr. Tracy Caldwell Dyson. On the evening of Thursday, June 27th at 6:00pm, locals and visitors alike can attend the kickoff to the Village Gazebo series, with special guests from Griffis Sculpture Park, to reveal and discuss the newly appointed statue and the art park. While the Gazebo series will continue on Friday nights until August 8th, this special Thursday event is to celebrate the art around us. Live music will fill the night, along with light hors d’oeuvres and refreshments, so be sure to raise a glass and share a toast to all that Ellicottville continues to offer.

This is the 15th high school student we’ve awarded since the scholarship was established in 2017! Stay tuned for that announcement. Other exciting news we wanted to share is starting in 2025, we will open the Scholarship to three neighboring school districts, in addition to West Valley and Ellicottville. In this way, we will offer more Art students the opportunity to apply for our Scholarship. A win-win! The 12th annual Mudslide is a mudrun that's FUN. Yes, you'll get muddy, yes there is running, yes there are 15 obstacles but NO fire, NO barbed wire, and NO electric shocks! The 3.5 mile and 5.4 mile courses both start at the top of Morning Star with access from the Yodeler lift and run along the ridgeline to Spruce Lake and then back around the mountain to Eagle where the short course and long course split. The short course heads down the hill, where the long course adds a bit of uphill running just in case you're feeling especially tough. Using the last few mounds of snow from HoliMont, the Loud Underground/DCT parking lot at 2 Bristol Lane (next to Tim & Bonnie’s Pizza) will be completely transformed for this jam-format snowboarding event! The $35 registration fee will give you the chance to show off your skills and vie for some really cool prizes, including a new snowboard, skateboard, and cold hard cash! Join the Challenger Learning Center's Director, Reann Ehman, at the Ellicottville Library to watch and learn about the Total Solar Eclipse. There will be kids activities and several viewing options! In Ellicottville, the total solar eclipse starts at 2:04pm and continues until 4:30pm, with totality at 3:20pm. They will live stream the event in case of overcast weather.

Join Us at the Nannen Arboretum for a “Solar Watch Party”. An important historical event is happening on Monday April 8, 2024. The Nannen Arboretum at 28 Parkside Drive, Ellicottville, is in the direct path of the full solar eclipse. Members of the arboretum committee are  inviting the public to use the wide-open spaces by the pond and meadows to view this spectacular event. The eclipse will begin at 2:03 pm. Full totality will be at 3:17 pm and the eclipse will be over at 4:30 pm. Protective glasses, provided compliments of Cattaraugus County, will be free at the entrance to the arboretum beginning at 1 pm. Bring your favorite lawn chair and follow the asphalt path to the pond and open areas on the arboretum grounds. Refreshments and bathrooms will be available.
