Final StrOlean Event Scheduled for October

OLEAN — The final edition of the three StrOleans is set for Friday, October 1st. StrOlean is defined as an event to be held throughout the Olean area; event-goers are able to saunter, amble, wander, walk; and able to enjoy food, music, fine arts, classic cars and fun for all ages.  Hours for StrOlean are Noon to 10 :00pm.

A few events have already been scheduled for the October edition: The Out of the Darkness Cattaraugus County Walk and Tour of the Olean Fire Department Central Station will start and end at Lincoln Park on October 1st with registration at 5:00pm and the walk to take place between 6:00 and 8:30pm.  To register or for more information, please email almann@cattco.org.

The Olean Fire Department will host its third Open House with a static truck display, fire prevention handouts for adults and kids and tour of the station .

There are three ways for businesses, organizations and school groups to participate – retail/information, food, and events.

GOACC is asking non-profits and for profit organizations to bring events to downtown. Some suggested event ideas include: Scavenger Hunt, Storytime, Historic Walking Tour, Step by Step Painting Class, Outdoor Yoga class, Make and Take Craft Night, Cheer/Dance competition, Strolling Chorus, Outside ZUMBA Class, Antique Car Show & Rally, Lip Sync/Singing Competition … the possibilities are endless

Food trucks and restaurants in the area that are not located on North Union Street – GOACC encourages you to fill out a food vendor app and come on down to StrOlean.  The Olean area is known for its fabulous cuisine and would like many food vendors to participate in StrOlean.

If you have an existing storefront in Allegany, Hinsdale, Olean or Portville, please let GOACC know what you will be doing that day – whether it’s special sales, author book signing, or other events at your place.  There is an application to fill out, but there is no charge for those existing storefronts even if they are in/out of their store.

GOACC is also encouraging many vendors to come to downtown to display and sell their artisan items, catalog/home party, farm market stands, artwork, jewelry and more as a POP-UP Market – a temporary ‘store’ front in downtown Olean.

Those interested in participating as a retail or food vendor or as an event organizer, please call for a registration form. For more information, contact GOACC at 716-372-4433 or email events@oleanny.com.
