eNOW: Tell me about your exclusive product, the Apex Ski Boot.
DEKDEBRUN: Apex ski boots have been on the market since 2008. Dekeberun’s Ski Shop and Greg Dekdebrun, always looking for a new innovative product, became the first Apex retail dealer in Western New York. We are now the exclusive Apex dealer for Western New York, Western Pennsylvania, and northern Ohio. There are no dealers in Canada, so until Covid we serviced Central Canada exclusively.
eNOW: What draws a client to this product?
DEKDEBRUN: The premise behind the boot was to be comfortable, warm, easy to get on and off and perform as a ski boot should. This was accomplished by making a comfortable walking boot (think snowboard boot) that is heat moldable and uses a BOA system for closure. You then step into the performance chassis with a two strap closure. The chassis is compatible with all alpine bindings. It has adjustments for forward lean, 3 flex adjustments and the ability to cant (cuff align the chassis). Replacement toes and heels are also available.
eNOW: What’s new this year?
DEKDEBRUN: Over the years, Apex has refined the product which has improved the fit, comfort and performance. This year Apex will be offering 2 models - a men’s model the XP Antero Topo Edition, and a women’s model the Blanco Topo Edition. The Antero is designed for the advanced male skier. The Blanco is for an intermediate to advanced woman skier. Both models have the same features and benefits, including an insulted Thermolite liner to help promote warmth.
eNOW: How do we get our hands on these?
DEKDEBRUN: Dekdebrun’s will be selling the boots by appointment starting in November. Typical of what is happening in most industries, shipping has put our delivery of new inventory behind schedule. Go to our website dekdebruns.com to make your appointment. We anticipate being out of boots by the end of January. Don’t procrastinate. We do have a small number of older boots that are listed on eBay.
eNOW: What other services can your customers expect at your location?
DEKDEBRUN: Every good boot fit starts with a set of foot beds. Just like the foundation in your home, the foot bed is what stabilizes and controls all the joints above it. We will continue to offer custom foot beds from Footbalance and drop-ins from Walkabout.
