Line-Up of Great Events in the Coming Weeks

Telestock (2/23): A day of peace, love and telemark skiing at the Yodeler Champagne Sundeck, brought to you by The City Garage and their favorite tele-brands. Telemark Skiing combines elements of both alpine and nordic skiing, using the rear foot to keep balance while pushing on the front foot to create a carving turn on downhill skis with toe-only bindings. In other words, free the heel, man! Get to the Champagne Sundeck (Holiday Valley’s Yodeler Lodge) early to get your gear. They’ll have men’s, women’s and even a limited supply of kid’s stuff. Special lift ticket rates offered for participants. Call 716-699-2054 or visit The City Garage, downtown Ellicottville, for more information.

Penguin Paddle (2/24): The Penguin Paddle is one of the most anticipated events of the ski season and the major source of funding for the Lounsbury Adaptive Ski Program (LASP).  The annual Penguin Paddle is an all-day event that is held on the slope-side of the Yodeler Lodge in cooperation with Holiday Valley Ski Resort… and they don’t call it the Penguin Paddle for nothing! Every February hundreds of Penguin Paddlers of all ages flock to Holiday Valley for the Penguin Paddle Races. These slippery sliders throw caution and dignity to the wind and don helmets and large black garbage bags to ‘make like penguins’ and slide down the lower part of the Yodeler ski slope on their bellies to support the Lounsbury Adaptive Ski Program. There will be a buffet cook-out lunch, silent auction, wine wall and a raffle filled with awesome items. The silent auction features over 150 items including beautiful gift baskets, ski and outdoor gear, home decor and gift cards from many of Ellicottville’s fine local restaurants and businesses.  Follow @LounsburyAdaptive on FB/IG for more information and updates.

Boardroom Banked Slalom (3/3): If you love snowboarding, this is the event for you! If not, no worries - it’s also great for spectating! Boardroom Banked is a timed, banked slalom down Holiday Valley’s Champagne slope with 4 divisions - Grom (15 & under), Men’s, Women’s, and O.G. (35+). There will be trophies for each division winner, along with free swag, prizes and giveaways! There will also be a Vendor Village and cookout on the Champagne Sundeck at the Yodeler Lodge. Discounted lift tickets for competitors and lodging are available. Assumption of risk form must be signed by a parent if competitor is under 18. All proceeds go towards benefiting a charitable cause. (Note: According to The Boardroom Snowboard shop, organizer of the event, this year’s Boardroom Banked is pending, due to weather. Keep and eye on The Boardroom’s social media pages for the latest information as it is released.)

Winter Carnival (3/9 & 3/10): It is without a doubt one of the most fun and zany events you’ll experience in Ellicottville! Mardi Gras Weekend delivers a New Orleans style celebration with a ski town twist. Ellicottville will host its annual Mardi Gras Parade and Holiday Valley no doubt has a full schedule of fun planned for their Winter Carnival celebration. We can’t think of a better way to close out winter than with a wild, village-wide costume party! Pull out the masks, break out the beads, get those skis and snowboards waxed up and get prepped for Ellicottville’s Mardi Gras Weekend!

NEW EVENT: UppenOvr (3/16): Embark on an exhilarating journey that takes you through the awesome landscape of Holiday Valley. You’ll begin at Yodeler Lodge and venture up the scenic Sugar Plum, Tannenbaum and Spruce Line trails, leading to the picturesque Spruce Lake. From there, make your way across to HoliMont and race down Sunset. Once at the bottom you’ll turn around and ascend Sunset once more. Crossing Spruce Lake again, you’ll trace your steps back along Spruce Line, ultimately returning to Yodeler Lodge. The adventure covers approximately 3 miles of breathtaking terrain! Whether you’re an avid snowsports enthusiast or simply looking for a fun winter outing, this event is designed for everyone. All snow equipment is welcome, whether it’s skins, cross country skis, split-boards or snowshoes. Pick your preferred method of transportation and lets hit the trails together! We’ve got something for everyone. Choose between two divisions: the Competitive Division for those who want to race against the clock, or the Just for Fun Division for those who prefer a leisurely pace. It’s all about enjoying the winter landscape at your own speed. After conquering the snowy terrain, it’s time to unwind and celebrate at Yodeler Lodge where you’ll find a post-event party filled with entertainment and excitement. We’ll have a live band to keep the energy high, fantastic prizes up for grabs, a costume contest for those feeling festive and a spread of hot dogs and drinks to satisfy your appetite. Plus, don’t miss out on our raffles and silent auction, where you can win some great prizes. This event isn’t just about having a blast in the snow; it’s also about giving back. By participating, you’re helping to contribute to Holiday Valley’s Empire State Ride Team, which benefits Roswell Park Cancer Center. Join us as we make a positive impact on our community and beyond. Save the date, invite your friends and get ready for a day of outdoor thrills and post-event festivities at Yodeler Lodge. See you there!
