Snow or No Snow, Ellicottville is Always a Show

“Snow or No Snow, Ellicottville is Always a Show.” This is the new slogan for this year’s holiday season. Truer words have never been spoken. (Probably.) We all know that the minute the snow flies and the lifts start turning, snowsports enthusiasts call our town their second home. Skiers and snowboarders from all over make the trip out here to hit the slopes for their outdoor adventures. And it’s always an amazing time. But the fun doesn’t stop on the hills. And it doesn’t stop just because the snow does.

“There is always something going on in Ellicottville no matter what the season, so letting visitors know that they can come down whether it is snowing or not, they will enjoy their experience,” said Barb Pump, Executive Assistant of the Ellicottville Chamber of Commerce.

How right Barb is. The town itself offers an array of entertainment for all ages. When ellicottvilleNOW asked Barb about some of the activities that will be available during the holiday week off the slopes, she responded, “Shopping, dining, live music, skateboarding/rollerskating, spa services, and hiking are just a few of the things that visitors can enjoy when they come to Ellicottville next week.”

A visit to Ellicottville over the holidays is a heartwarming and picturesque experience. Windows are elaborately decorated, lights sparkle as the sun goes down and smiling faces are always ready to greet you when you enter any of our local shops. Finish up your last-minute shopping for even the pickiest person on your gift list, or spend that Xmas money you were gifted on Christmas Day. Be it apparel (The Tee Bar), jewelry (Gado-Gado), candy (Watson’s), health products (Nature’s Remedy) or hilarious socks (The Purple Doorknob), you can find it here in town. There are multiple spas for different ways to relax - from salt cave sessions (Ellicottville Salt Cave) and manicures with Ellicottville themed nail polish (Oasis Spa at the Tamarack Club) to ultrasonic facials (Anew Beginning Massage and Spa) if you’ve got someone who could really use a break from the daily grind. (Maybe you need a break for yourself as well… the holidays can be stressful!)

Besides shopping, you can hit up one of our ski/snowboard shops for new gear for your next slope experience. Then get a little indoor skatepark time at Daily City Train if you want to keep your momentum going. (DCT is not just for skateboarders; they welcome roller skaters, scooters and BMX bikes, too!) Hey parents, feel free to relax on one of their comfy couches while the kids grind out their energy.

Either way, after whatever you choose to do with your day around EVL, you’re sure to have worked up an appetite. The culinary scene boasts restaurants for days right here and they all offer some amazing dishes. Katy’s Cafe has great breakfast wraps and lunch paninis, fill up on tacos at Hidalgo Mexican Grill, snag some pizza from Dina’s or Monroe Street Brick and Brew, indulge in Nani’s Italian comfort food at Villaggio, or if you want to keep close to the ski hills, the new Edna’s at The Tamarack Club creates a wide variety of delicacies for any pallet.

If you’re over 21, you can indulge at any of the many bars and distilleries. Over the weekend, you can typically find live music or DJs rocking the dance floors. EBC Tap and Bottle Taqueria will be hosting a “Blacklight Glow Party” on December 30th starting at 9:00pm. Or keep it more relaxed with wine and charcuterie at the Winery of Ellicottville. If you head out to 5462 Robbins Road, The Ellicottville Distillery will be gearing up for their end-of-the-year Liquor Run on the 31st.

So as you can see, Ellicottville is the place to be for all sorts of fun over the holiday break! Barb advised, “Our favorite festivals will return in 2024, like Winter Blues Weekend, Winter Music Jam, Mardi Gras and our ever popular Summer Music Festival, which makes us the four-season destination to experience, and we are always looking at other opportunities that help us promote our "One Brand One Voice" mindset.”

You heard the woman. Come out and visit Ellicottville, NY anytime of year! Event dates and details can be found at ellicottvilleny.com. And remember, “Snow or No Snow, Ellicottville is Always a Show!”
