There may still be snow on the ground, but spring is just around the corner! With the change of seasons comes the inevitable task of spring cleaning. Newcomer Zen Oasis Cleaning Co, founded by Jamestown native Jessa Pace, is here to revolutionize the process, one deep clean at a time. Already one year into her business, Pace’s concept is a game changer. She exclusively uses her homemade, all-natural, eco-friendly multipurpose spray to clean and shine, well, just about anything.

EllicottvilleNOW caught up with Jessa for a low down on what’s in store for Zen Oasis Cleaning Co, her content creation, passion for BMX and downhill mountain biking, and all things outdoors, and what the future has in store.

“I started the business last year, and I did this because I didn’t want to be sitting in an office anymore,” Pace said by way of phone interview. “I used to work for corporate, and I had a really cool opportunity to travel across the country in 2023 and live in my car in California for a couple of months. When I came back, I was kind of bored, so I started this [cleaning business] on a whim,” she said. “So I did that - and I didn’t really perceive it being something that was going to like, take off, as fast as it did.”

Pace, an avid outdoor enthusiast and biker known by many at HoliMont, said that she did not start off branding herself as an eco-friendly cleaning business. Having formerly worked in property management, Pace shared that many of her early clients would ask for eco-friendly products, and after reading some of the product labels that her clients were using, she realized that many of them were not natural at all. “I understand using all-natural products; I have very sensitive skin and I have to be mindful about all of that, so I started making my own cleaning products, and I get compliments on them all the time. It started to get to the point where I was like, you know what, I’m going to rebrand myself and maybe start selling my products,” she said. Pace’s multipurpose spray is a combination of three simple ingredients: water, pure essential oils, and baking soda.

“I started taking on clients in Ellicottville and Dunkirk, while maintaining my clients in my surrounding area, and I realized that I can’t do this all myself; at some point, I’ll have to expand, so I’m kind of in that space of taking a leap,” she said.

As far as next steps, the future looks bright. “I am working on the website right now and I’m also trying to find wholesalers for packaging for my products to sell,” she explained, stating her additional marketing includes a Facebook business page and a recently created business profile on Instagram. “I am in the works of utilizing a couple of my clients to be able to push out some more [content] because I have so many ideas for reels, for Instagram specifically,” she said.

Even with modern marketing techniques at play, Pace says that a majority of her business comes from referrals. “Right now, I would say that a lot of my business comes from word-of-mouth. The power of connecting with other people is free and it’s more powerful sometimes because it’s coming from a good place.”

Pace says she is currently working on her business plan and looking to add a couple of employees by the end of the year to help manage her growing clientele. “I do work with a lot of real estate agents and I get a lot of people who reach out to me who bought a home and want a clean before they move everything in, and then set something up weekly or bi-weekly,” she said. As she expands into the Ellicottville market and the surrounding areas, Pace mentioned that she does not offer Airbnb turnovers, however, she does offer quarterly deep cleans for rental properties, which sets her apart from the competition. “For example, with one of my clients in Ellicottville, I’m going to go into the house four times a year and do deep cleans, because the [rental] house really needs it after all that traffic,” she said.

“I ran the housekeeping when I was in property management, I ran reservations, and I understand all of the things that go along with it,” Pace explained. “I would love to go in and do deep cleans for the [Airbnb] owners."
