New Business Opens at 22 Washington Street
For Jeannine Gicewicz, fondly known as “J9,” there’s just something about Ellicottville – a vibe, if you will – that makes it unlike any other town. “There is an essence, for sure, with the locals and the visitors,” she said. “It’s close-knit, but it involves everybody coming from all over the place.” What better way to reflect Ellicottville’s unique energy than to open a storefront that encompasses everything that’s special about the area? That’s exactly what visitors will find at 22 Washington Street, where Gicewicz’s Good Vibez CBD & Wellness, John Pirrone and Scott DeMott’s Rustic Buffalo, and Terry Norton’s Alpine Attic have come together to provide an experience like no other!
GOOD VIBEZ CBD & WELLNESS
Earlier this month, the store welcomed visitors to their soft opening to discover the incredible array of products and services each business has to offer. Although she may be new to 22 Washington Street, Gicewicz is hardly new to the massage therapy and wellness scene! With nearly 20 years of experience as a licensed massage therapist, she has dedicated her life to helping individuals recover and thrive after severe trauma and surgery. “My journey with CBD began after experiencing profound grief and depression following the loss of my father,” Gicewicz explained. “Skeptical at first, I discovered CBD’s transformative effects and became determined to understand its mechanism of action. How was it possible to transform me from such deep depression into the best I felt in the past 10 years?”
After extensive research into CBD and its healing effects and informed by nearly two decades of expertise in massage therapy, Gicewicz developed her own line of CBD products with the same manufacturer that made the products she started using that changed her life. “I am on a mission to empower others in their journey towards pain relief, improved sleep, and overall well-being,” she explained. “From assisting individuals with autoimmune diseases to providing relief from arthritis and neuropathy pain, I am committed to listening, educating, and supporting my clients and their pets every step of the way.”
Gicewicz offers all different modalities of massage therapy including myofascial decompression, medical grade cupping, trigger point therapy, traditional deep tissue and relaxation massages. She also includes CBD and cold stone therapies for people with chronic pain or inflammatory autoimmune pathologies. Stop into 22 Washington Street to talk to her about the healing benefits of CBD or to book a massage – even same-day treatments.
RUSTIC BUFFALO
If you count yourself a member of the Bills Mafia, dip your wings in blue cheese, and love supporting local artisans, then Rustic Buffalo Artisan Market is your destination! Gicewicz is thrilled that the Buffalo-based business, which has locations in North Tonawanda, East Aurora, and Williamsville, is a part of the fun at 22 Washington Street in Ellicottville.
Rustic Buffalo Artisan Market offers an array of home décor items such as farmhouse, rustic, Buffalo-themed, vintage, shabby chic, hometown items, and so much more. There are over 250 award-winning independent contractors as artisans in the largest privately-owned artisan market in western New York covering the largest geographic location. So what exactly can you expect to find? Really, the question is, what can’t you find at Rustic Buffalo? There are thousands of items such as custom signs, floral wreaths, antiques, handmade jewelry, repurposed furniture, hand-poured candles, textiles and clothing, metal art, concrete art, photography, handmade soaps and scrubs, pillows, barn art, glass art, and more. Ellicottville Rustic Buffalo even has its own app in which users can shop 24/7 with thousands of items to choose from and nationwide shipping so everyone can enjoy a piece of the Buffalo area.
Co-owner John Pirrone said, “The Ellicottville location will cater to those that travel, love shopping and drinking locally, and those that call Ellicottville a destination.” He is excited to partner with Good Vibez to provide an experience for all to enjoy in the heart of the village. Co-owner Scott DeMott added, “Our Rustic Buffalo store in Ellicottville offers a sampling of what Rustic is all about as each of our four stores are different and provide a unique experience to all that visit.”
ALPINE ATTIC
Also located within Good Vibez is Alpine Attic, a familiar favorite to many, as Terry Norton’s business has been in and around Ellicottville for 17 years in various locations and online. His signature vintage winter décor and gifts are perfect for decorating a cabin, lodge, or chalet. Whether you’re looking for classic charm or authentic décor made from skis, Alpine Attic won’t disappoint!
Norton began collecting skiing memorabilia in 1980 when the winter Olympics came to Lake Placid, New York. At the time, Norton could be found managing his aunt and uncle’s Orchard Park ski shop, The Red Door, though his passion for collecting vintage winter sports-related items continued long after he left the ski shop to work in the corporate world in 1984. Norton explained, “In about 2007, after almost 30 years or so of accumulating vintage ski-related items, I decided I wanted to start selling off bits and pieces of my collection and thought to myself, ‘There’s no better place than Ellicottville!’ As a result, the Alpine Attic was created to share the essence of ‘old time’ skiing with others through vintage skis, framed prints, posters, wine racks and other assorted items made with repurposed skis.” Speaking of his business’ new home, Norton said, “I am truly excited to be sharing the same store with Good Vibez and Rustic Buffalo.”
Gicewicz emphasized how important it is to her to partner with Rustic Buffalo and Alpine Attic. “Their kindness, cooperation, and creativity has been above and beyond anything I could ever imagine,” she said. “I can’t wait to start my new adventure in Ellicottville with the best group of people… This is literally a dream come true.”
Good Vibez is open on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 11:00am-5:00pm, Fridays and Saturdays from 10:00am to 7:00pm, and Sundays 10:00am-3:00pm. Mondays and Tuesdays are reserved for massage bookings only. Visitors may also come in the same day and request a massage after shop hours, starting at 5:30pm and 7:30pm. Gicewicz can also accommodate morning hours if needed. For more information, call 716-984-7537.
