Film screening about local aquatic invaders at Audubon Center on April 4th
JAMESTOWN - One of the most picturesque landscapes and important ecosystems in western Pennsylvania and southwestern New York, Lake Erie and nearby regions are at risk from aquatic invasive species.
Audubon Community Nature Center’s First Friday, April 4th, 11:00am-noon, is screening the new film, Seeing the Unseen: Aquatic Invaders and What’s at Stake. Produced by the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy’s Pennsylvania Natural Heritage Program staff, viewers will learn how hundreds of aquatic invasive species are negatively affecting Lake Erie and its watershed and nearby regions.
This 45-minute film was an official selection for the 2024 Documentaries Without Borders International Film Festival and the Raw Science Film Festival. The viewing will be followed by a question and answer session featuring regional invasive experts.
If you’d like to bring a packed lunch, you can visit attendees and the experts after the program. Program fee is $8 or $6 for Nature Center members and children ages 9 to 15. Reservations are appreciated by calling 716-569-2345 or online at AudubonCNC.org/events. Walk-ins are welcome.

The three-story Nature Center building houses interactive displays, a collection of live animals including the Hellbender exhibit, and the Blue Heron Gift Shop.
