CRCF Set to Make Big Impact for Local Non-profits on Giving Tuesday

OLEAN - More than 70 nonprofits from across Cattaraugus County will again be looking to make a big impact through their collective fundraising during Cattaraugus Gives on Tuesday, November 29. Led by the Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation, Cattaraugus Gives is a 24-hour online fundraising event that brings together area nonprofits of any service area, size or mission in friendly competition to celebrate the community’s spirit of giving.

In 2021, Cattaraugus Gives nonprofits together raised $358,772. Since 2019 alone, Cattaraugus Gives has helped raise over $750,000 for nonprofits in Cattaraugus County impacting a wide variety of cause areas - from animal welfare to food security, youth development to historic preservation and beyond.

Giving will kick off at 12:00am on Tuesday, Nov. 29 at cattaraugusgives.org and will continue for 24 hours. Donors will also have the opportunity to help the nonprofits they love win prizes from a $21,000+ prize pool - the largest ever for Cattaraugus Gives to date, sponsored by area businesses and the CRCF board of directors. A full prize list is available to view at cattaraugusgives.org/prizes.

A number of participating organizations will also have matches and challenges available, so a donor may have the opportunity to double their gift’s impact. Donors and the public can see the impact of their gifts and support by watching a live leaderboard that will update the total raised throughout the day in real-time.

“Cattaraugus Gives has been a really exciting day for our area nonprofits and for the donors that give so generously,” said CRCF Executive Director Karen Niemic Buchheit. “To raise over $358,000 in one day is no small feat, and we know that the money raised has a made a real difference in the community.”

CRCF hopes that this year, Cattaraugus Gives can have an even bigger impact.

“We know that a lot of the needs that existed during the COVID-19 pandemic for nonprofits and the people they served during the COVID-19 pandemic have not gone away, and many have increased due to staffing challenges, economic uncertainty and other factors,” said Buchheit. “So we hope that Cattaraugus Gives can again provide a boost to the nonprofits who continue to support those in need in our community and region.”
