Dawn Rowland’s Journey to become a CPT

Dawn Rowland’s Journey to Become a CPT

Dawn and Steve Rowland have been blessed with three very talented athletic children.  This is how I know them.  For many years we shared sidelines and bleachers cheering on our young athletes and watching them grow into adolescents. Dawn was passionate about sports since she herself was a very skilled athlete back in high school, excelling in softball, basketball, volleyball and track. She shared her passion either on the side lines or sometimes behind the bench coaching kids to be their best.

In life, Dawn had a full plate that kept her in constant motion but didn’t allow much of an opportunity to focus on her own health and well-being.  That shifted in 2018 when Dawn joined a group of folks on a Beachbody team.  There she learned about meal prep and fitness.  She even ran in the EVL Happy Half 5k. Her body had changed, her attitude had changed and she felt great.  But - as we all know - consistency is the key to change and things get in the way.

Fast forward to 2020 - the Pandemic! Sitting on the sidelines or even playing in a sporting event was taboo. I only saw Dawn through social media posts and wondered how during this arduous time period when everyone seemed to be gaining weight, she was losing weight. We were able to finally see each other during the summer of 2021 when Dawn shared that her weight loss was not something she planned but caused instead by what she now refers to as “an unfortunate blessing”. Dawn’s world had fallen off its axis and she had two choices: help to right it or walk away from it.  She started to dedicate herself to feeling healthy and growing stronger both physically and mentally. Every time she worked out with me, she wanted to know more about the process, the why’s and how’s.  She was also very afraid that this would just be another phase in her life and truly wanted to make this a forever reality.

So, I encouraged her to look into becoming a personal trainer.  I know how this profession can truly change not only others’ lives, but also that of the trainer.  I also know that if you invest time and money into something, you are more likely to stick with it.  And so she did just that.  She took her CPR classes, studied hard for months, and this past March 2022 she gained her certification as a certified personal trainer.

Throughout this process, Dawn’s world did right itself.  She feels stronger and clearer about the path that is ahead of her.  She is ready to take on clients and help them to achieve their best versions of themselves as she has done for herself.  If you are interested in meeting with Dawn for an assessment and a fitness direction, please feel free to reach out to her at dawnerowland@gmail.com
