The inaugural Ski 4 A Cure, presented by SCOL (Ski Club of Lockport) and hosted by HoliMont on February 16, 2023 was an amazing experience that benefited Roswell Park’s Comprehensive Cancer Center’s most pressing needs. Through HoliMont event ticket sales, online, offline donations, basket and 50/50 sales, SCOL and HoliMont raised $7, 245.00, despite a forecast that called for rain.

The fun-filled day of events included a complimentary demo day from City Garage, who did a phenomenal job of quickly fitting participants with an extensive selection of skis.

Events included a cancer survivors parade that snaked down Expo slope, which honored cancer survivors and their families, a scavenger hunt, the bombardier game (a tennis ball dropped into a large trash can on the hill from the chairlift), and a matched timed race, with the the most consistent time between two runs. Prizes were awarded to the winners of each event.

SCOL would like to thank all of the donors, including the following businesses for their contributions or services: HoliMont Ski Resort, Snowflake Ski Shop, Bradley’s Auto Detailing, Covell Chiropractic, Lockport’s Palace Theater, City Garage, Davison Road Inn, Village Restaurant, Silver Fox Restaurant,  Western New York Dental, Dina’s at HoliMont Catering and the Roswell Park Alliance Foundation.

The second annual Ski 4 A Cure event will take place at HoliMont on Friday, February 16, 2024.
