1st Annual CTE Signing Day

CABOCES CTE Center at Ellicottville Hosted Event to Honor Seniors Making Progress in Their Chosen Fields

CABOCES of Ellicottville hosted their 1st Annual CTE Signing Day event today, May 24, 2023, to honor the students who are already beginning to make their commitments to the future.

ellicottvilleNOW was invited to attend the ceremony, where CABOCES seniors who have already been accepted into trades, careers, military services and furthering their educations via collage, signed their certificates of commitment in front of media, teachers, family and friends.

Each class was called up in alphabetical order and each student received a certificate for the position they would be accepting after graduation. Some are heading on to JCC, Alfred University… while others are going directly into their career of choice, such as the culinary student who is currently working at Ellicottville Brewing Company, and another student who is planning to open their own business once school is completed. Other students will be joining the U.S. armed forces in the Navy, Army and Marines.

It was very motivating to see so many young people embracing the path forward and carrying their dreams onward from school into reality. Trade schools are very underrated in the roll that they play in our economy and how well they prepare the workers of the future for entering a real world working environment. CABOCES sets students up for great success in the paths they’ve chosen. As WBL Coordinator Tracy Guntrum said, “It’s time to embrace the trades. It’s so refreshing to see so many bright, young minds open to the countless avenues of success.”

You could see the pride in both the students and their parents as they accepted their certificates and enthusiastic applause from the gathered crowd upon placing their signatures. This event really showcases how important the educational support system can be for our youth. From student to faculty to family, CABOCES is leading the classes of today into a better future for tomorrow.

Here at ellicottvilleNOW, we just want to say thank you for inviting us to share this event with everyone and we wish the Class of 2023 good luck and much success in all their ventures!
