Mourning the Loss of a Well-Known Local Woman


Ellicottville - Elaine F. Northrup, 74, of Ellicottville, passed away Monday, May, 1st 2023 at her home. She was born on August 25, 1948 in Bradford, PA, daughter of the late Wayne and Elizabeth (Emery) Fesenmeyer.

Elaine is survived by two sons; Jake (Jen) Northrup of Ellicottville, and Karl (Jill) Northrup of Ellicottville, as well as a daughter, Rachel (Scotty McGee) Northrup of Ellicottville. Also surviving is a brother, Fred Fesenmeyer of Bradford, PA, and eight grandchildren; Riley, Clinton, Saylor, Ande, Karle, Austyn, Easton, and Seely, as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Wayne and Elizabeth Fesenmyer. Elaine is predeceased by her life long best friend and childhood caregiver Jeanette Cardamon, a brother, Ken Fesenmyer and a sister, Natalie Emery.

For many years, Elaine was the developer of The Woods at Holimont, and other projects in Colorado and Florida.  She was passionate about art, design and architecture. She was active in the Ellicottville Ski Club, The Bradford Club and served on the advisory board at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford.  Her love of skiing brought her to Ellicottville and she became a level 3 PSIA ski instructor and member of the Holiday Valley ski school while attending University of Pittsburgh. She enjoyed travel, nature, her pets, golfing, hiking, spending time with her family and friends and being a part of the Ellicottville community. She was part of the group who built the first playground at Ellicottville Central School in 1986.

Friends may call at the Mentley Funeral Home Inc. 411 Rock City Street in Little Valley,NY on Friday May 5, 2023 from 2-4pm. Celebration of Life will take place this summer her birthday weekend August 26th in town details to follow
