If you biked all summer long with Loud Underground, you can snowboard with them all winter too! Dee Dippel, owner, is passionate about both summer and winter sports in our region. There’s a lot to look forward to over at the shop as they make the switch from bikes to boards in preparation for the snowfall.

eNOW: What’s the stoke level at LOUD Underground as we transition seasons?

DIPPEL: We get excited about winter and snowboarding, especially after a busy summer with bikes. We’re just getting our new inventory in for the winter and are shifting our focus more on snowboards, fat bikes, BMX / park bikes, and scooters for the indoor park.

eNOW: Are there any events LOUD Underground will be involved with this winter that you’re looking forward to?

DIPPEL: We do have some events we are planning, like the 2nd Annual Showdown Throwdown in our shop parking lot, Ditch Daze at HoliMont, and a few others. We’ll have more details to share as we get closer to the season.

eNOW: Can you give us some insight on some of the brands you carry?

DIPPEL: We are pumped about the brands we carry - Capita, Union, Thirty-two, Crab Grab, 686, & Clew bindings, to name a few. I personally love the Clews binding. They are a sweet set-up that allows you to rock any boot for a step-in system. We also offer some great options for beginners and any other skill level.

eNOW: What services are available to customers of LOUD?

DIPPEL: We offer same-day snowboard tunes, any type of bike repairs, and snowboard repairs as well.

eNOW: What does the transition from bikes to boards look like for you guys?

DIPPEL: The switch over from bikes to boards isn't as dramatic as you would think. We really never stop doing bicycle work, because of the indoor riding and winter time fat biking. We just add snowboards into our mix for half the year basically. For us, the summer-to-winter difference is an adjustment, though. We have two store locations for bike sales and service in the summer - one in Bemus Point and one on Bristol Lane in Ellicottville. We are wide open all summer long with both stores, plus we provide bike rentals and on-the-spot services and repairs at the base of the HoliMont Bike Park, too, when the bike park lift is running there. We love snow and winter as well and being avid riders, we’re looking forward to making some turns on the slopes as soon as they’re ready.

eNOW: How does the inventory look this year?

DIPPEL: We are currently unpacking and stocking up for the upcoming season. New product is showing up almost daily. We’re excited for our customers to come visit us and see what’s hitting the shelves over the next few weeks.

eNOW: What’s your favorite slope in Ellicottville?

DIPPEL: My favorite, hands down, is Fall Line at HoliMont. I've always enjoyed that one.
