On Sunday, October 20th, the “Cantata” Choir will begin rehearsing for this year’s production which will take place on Sunday, December 15th at 3:00 pm in the Riverside Chapel on Broad Street in Salamanca, and 7:00 p.m. in the Holy Name of Mary Church in Ellicottville, N.Y. The title of the Cantata is “A Blest Messiah Born” by Larry Shackley. This work tells the Christmas Story Through Timeless Carols. There is even a song for a children’s choir. When we performed this cantata in 2012, the “Frendly Beasts” sung by the children was a big hit. Contact our director, Annette Ieda, if you have a talented child who would enjoy being in this ensemble.
The rehearsals for the adult group will begin at the Riverside Chapel and alternate each week between Salamanca and The First Church of Ellicottville on Elizabeth Street. The rehearsals will be from 1:15 to 3:00 weekly from Oct. 20 until Dec. 8th. If you enjoy singing and are interested in joining us, please call or text Annette Ieda, the director, 716-912-3512 for more information. This is a volunteer group which gathers annually to enrich our Christmas Season by presenting the story of Jesus’ Birth through song and narration. Please mark your calendar and save the date of December 15th, 2024 to attend the free concerts, and the refreshments following each presentation.
