OLEAN - Big things are happening at the Tri-County Arts Council! The TCAC is pleased to announce their first ever “Something BIG” large works show. The show runs March 23rd through April 27th in the Peg Bothner Gallery located at 110 W. State Street in Olean. The Opening Reception will take place this Saturday, March 23rd from 5:30-7:30pm. Catering is provided by L’Ardasse Chocolates of Olean, sponsored by the Tri-County Arts Council Board of Directors.
“We (TCAC) decided that after years of small works shows, that it would be fun for our members to “stretch their legs” and have a large works show,” said Paula Bernstein, Executive Director of the Tri-County Arts Council. “We were blown away by the response! 75 artists submitted 158 pieces! Due to space limitations we had to jury this show, and in the end, we were able to accept 50 pieces from 50 artists.”
Each entry had to be “large” for their media - 24 inches or more for painting, and various other size requirements for jewelry, pottery, and sculpture. Accepted works include watercolor, gouache, oil painting, photography pottery, jewelry, metal works, stained glass and more.
The “Something BIG” participating artists include Satyavani Pippalla Akula, Kasia Ambuski, Wendy Bale, John Balacki, Kobie Barber, Carol Beato Smith, Dennis Bertram, Donald Black, Rose Brawn, Marshall Burns, Michelle Capizzi, Jim Douglas, Audrey Kay Dowling, Karen Fitzpatrick, Barbara Fox, Brenda Freeman Sawyer, Ed Green, Marshall Green, Theresa Heinz, Mark Corwine, Zachary and Lindsay Horn, Lorinda John, D’Arsie Mae, Emily Leone Meidenbauer, Melissa Locke, Myriam Mayshark, Barbara Mink, Geraldine Nash Smith, Jean Nevinger, Nancy Nixon Ensign, Violet Nolder, Thomas Paquette, Megan Parry, Amanda Parry Oglesbee, Brian Payne, Sarah Phillips, Philip Procter, Daryl Reding, Matt Retzlaff, Fr Michael Reyes OFM, Megan Saboda, Brook Shumway, Darlene Subulski, Julie Thurber, Jennie Thwing, Peter Tucker, Marsha Van Vlack, Felicity Vickman, Tara Walker, Paige Wiard, and Abby Zickefoose.
