Christmas in Ellicottville This Weekend

Christmas in Ellicottville this Weekend

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year Begin this Friday!

ELLICOTTVILLE - The kickoff to the holiday shopping season officially begins this Friday, November 23rd and Ellicottville retailers are stocked to the brim with festive, functional and one-of-a-kind products that are sure to make gift giving options for everyone on your list easy peasy lemon squeezy. A number of shops plan to stay open late, which means those visiting Ellicottville will have plenty of time to take advantage of the many daytime activities scheduled during the annual Christmas in Ellicottville celebration!

Produced by the Ellicottville Chamber of Commerce, this year’s Christmas in Ellicottville will take place Friday through Sunday, Nov. 23rd-25th. The iconic Thanksgiving weekend event has become a tradition for many families from near and far, and it’s no wonder why.

“Our downtown merchants come together each season to showcase the holiday spirit in style - whether it be with their festive storefront displays, fun activities inside their store or special offers to help people get a jumpstart on their gift shopping,” said Barb Pump, Assistant Director of the Ellicottville Chamber. “Add in all of the fun outdoor activities we offer at no charge, such as horse drawn wagon rides, fire truck rides with Santa, and real live reindeer, and it truly is a wonderful experience that kids (and adults) will never forget.”

Take a drive into Ellicottville Friday afternoon to catch some of the fun early! The Wingate will offer a number of children’s activities inside their lobby, and anyone who loves cookies will certainly enjoy decorating them with Cupcaked Bakery which will host a Cookie Decorating workshop at Balloons Restaurant.

“A popular activity amongst the kiddos is the 12 Days of Christmas Scavenger Hunt,” said Pump. “Pick up the list at participating businesses and follow the clues around town to claim your prize! It gives parents a chance to shop while their kids are entertained. It’s a win-win!”

As the sun begins to set Friday evening, make your way over to Ellicottville’s Ski Tree, located on the lawn of the post office. The tree lighting ceremony (6:00pm) is an awe-inspiring and heartwarming celebration that many describe as “magical”. Stay warm with complimentary hot coca served on-site. Mr. and Mrs. Claus and reindeer will be there to greet the kids.

Christmas in Ellicottville continues throughout the weekend with even more activities, including breakfast with Santa both Saturday (Villaggio) and Sunday (FTR, formerly Finnerty’s), and a special appearance from Buddy the Elf at ERA Team VP Real Estate (Saturday only). Horse and wagon rides, fire truck rides with Santa, cookie decorating and visits with Santa’s reindeer are planned for all three days!

Can’t make it to Ellicottville this weekend? Celebrate Christmas in Ellicottville all through the month of December. “This is one of our favorite times of year,” said Pump, “so we keep the holiday cheer meter strong all the way up to the big day! Ellicottville is a true shopping destination, and with a variety of restaurants rolling out their winter menus, coupled with live entertainment in most of the bars at night, a weekday or weekend trip is a great way to create memories with your friends or family.”
