A small business with a passion for pouring all natural soy wax candles, Enchanted Mountain Candle Co. was founded by owner and operator Emily Britt in February of 2023. The journey was never a straight path but after countless months of research, Emily was ready to invest in her creativity and run her own business. As she explained, finding the right technique took some time, but the vision for clean and natural products was always a top priority. “I like to make sure the candles have no harmful chemicals in them, so that people feel safe burning them or melting them in their home,” she told ellicottvilleNOW.

Britt is adamant about continuing to learn and perfect the technique, always challenging herself to give customers the best candles to spark their senses.
Enchanted Mountain Candle Co. has had an impressive year since their launch. Britt has the determination to continuously ignite her business, but what’s most impressive is her ever-present artistic nature. A part of the process that cannot be replicated, she incorporates her love for reading and witty word play with the release of a Book Trope Candle Collection. These signature candles take on their own story, telling the tales of passionate perfumes intertwining their paths and captivating your senses.
The “Enemies to Lovers” candle is already a fan favorite from the Book Trope Line and embodies a refreshing scent to spark its own narrative. The candle line is the perfect addition for anyone looking to add a fresh, new fragrance to their home, or gift to an avid book lover. The product line continues beyond a book lover’s dream. The Enchanted Mountain Candle Co. offers around 15 different scents and in various sizes. Customers have a wide range to choose from, with offerings of 4-, 8-, and 12-ounce hand poured candles, as well as 2.5-ounce soy wax melts. If you find yourself in need of a suggestion, Britt offers one of her top picks: “Maneater is definitely another favorite; it's scented like black cherry merlot and is a very fruity scent, while not being overpowering.”
Currently in the making are three soon-to-be-released winter scents, perfect for the upcoming holiday season, along with another book collection to feature four more candles. On the opening weekend of November 24-26th, they will be at the Hamburg location of the Buffalo Holiday Market running a Black Friday Sale all three days. They will also be featured at the Book Talk Buffalo’s Shop Local Holiday Market on December 10th. Another event is in the making for December 2nd and will be announced soon. Extending beyond the holiday season, Britt also just hosted a new event for the business. “I actually just did my first candle making party and it was so much fun!” she said. “I’m already starting to plan the next one!” A new way for groups of friends and family to connect and create, candle parties have been an up-and-coming trend. It’s an exciting experience to offer to anyone looking for a unique and creative way to tap into their artistic side.
From candle making, book reading and party hosting, Emily Britt’s ambition is ever present in all she offers through Enchanted Mountain Candle Co. Her vision continues to grow as she touches base on some additional workings. “I also make bookmarks and stickers based off of books,” she said. “I have a couple contracts with authors that allow me to sell merchandise based off of their books, including Sarah J Maas and Rebecca Yarros.”
It’s an impressive accomplishment for a business running shy of a year but Emily goes on to explain her motivation is always in drive. “I am working towards eventually having a physical store that I can run myself. I have a toddler and my goal is to make sure that he's set as he gets older, while still have a present parent that's not consumed by their work. I want to show him that you can have a job that you're passionate about.”
