M3 Weekend is Here!

GOACC ready to kick off the inaugural Magnificent May Mayhem this Friday with live music, vendors, and plenty of outdoor activities on both land and water

OLEAN - The Greater Olean Area Chamber of Commerce (GOACC) wanted mayhem for their next event and officials believe they are serving it up just right! “As we mentioned in earlier releases, mayhem is creating havoc - well, GOACC is creating havoc of a good kind - between music, dancing, catching a wave, to floating, hiking, and tossing a disc for putting challenges, the Magnificent May Mayhem has something for everyone,” reported Meme Yanetsko, GOACC COO.

FRIDAY: M3 kicks off Friday evening, May 20th with a street dance and music provided on the Beat City Music Sound Stage.  Food will be served up by The Hungry Burro as well as drinks from Sanzo Beverage and Wright Beverages by GOACC volunteers.   Activities for kids and those young at heart include catching a wave on the mechanical surfboard, a bounce house and an ocean explorer inflatable play from Blue Apple Productions from Rochester. The individual bounces/surf fee will be $5; a wristband for all you can bounce/surf is $10; and a family four-pack is $30.

MUSIC: Live music for the two-day event is being organized by Beat City Music, who are sponsors of the sound stage.  They have lined up Diggin Roots for Friday, and Swords of a Joker, Crop Circle Worship, and Bitter Coast for Saturday.

M3 MERCH: GOACC worked with Studio4East to create awesome event t-shirts and tanks.  In the fee for the participants in the weekend activities, there is an option for a tank, t-shirt or a tech tee.  GOACC will have the items on sale both Friday and Saturday at the event location.  The items range in price from $12 to $20.

SATURDAY: Saturday, May 21st includes fun on the Allegheny River, on the roads throughout Olean, as well as activities FREE and OPEN to the PUBLIC at War Veterans Park, Olean.  Vendors will open to shopping at 8:00am; water activities will start at 10:00am with regatta participants, and 10:30am with casual floats; 11:00am the run will begin at Four Mile; and music and the golf putting challenge starts at noon.

“GOACC connected with several of the senior and assisted living centers in the area to encourage trips to the park this Saturday to enjoy the park and the music going on,” stated Yanetsko.  “We hope the weather will cooperate for this great activity for our senior market.”

VENDORS: Both days of the M3 include retail vendors J&J Animal Products South, Trades of Hope, Jester Auto Parts, and several additional vendors.  “We had originally listed a Flea Market as a part of M3, but numbers fell short; but we will have about 8 retail vendors displaying a variety of products,” reported Yanetsko. “There is still room for retail vendor or flea market vendors, and GOACC Members … we have free vendor space for both Friday and Saturday.”

FOOD/DRINK: Food will be provided by The Hungry Burro and The Pig Out Place as well as beverages from Sanzo Beverages and Wright Bev. Distributors.  Hungry Burro menu features tacos, grain bowls, burritos and loads of sides.  The Pig Out Place includes BBQ items such as hot dogs, burgers and pulled pork.

COMPETITIONS

WATER: The River Regatta will feature 1-person, 2-person, 4-person and 6-person floating vessels - whether kayak, canoe or flat-bottomed boat. Awards will be presented for 1st place for each vessel category as this is a timed event.

LAND: “Challenging runs are not new to the runner's world … there are mud runs, iron man challenges and such.  The Hike to Herman features an elevation change of flat road surface up a dirt road at 392 feet when you get to the next turn - all within a 0.5 mile distance!” explained Erica Dreher, GOACC Member Services Director and an avid runner. Run details include Start-Four Mile Brewing Co.; End-War Veterans Park; Distance-4 miles; Elevation-795 feet; Conditions-asphalt, black top, dirt roads.  Each participant will receive a participation medal and top female and male receive a trophy.

GREENS: The Twin Tiers Disc Golf Club is organizing the Twin Tiers Putting Challenge. Players get two putts at every station. One point for each putt made, plus a bonus point if both putts are made. Top 5 best scores playoff in a final round for medals and prizes.

CASUAL FLOAT: Float the Allegheny’s goal is to encourage people to ‘get into the river’ and have a whale of a good time in the process. Although not timed, basically anyone can participate.

Please note early releases stated a wine walk and a putt putt crawl was also a part of M3 event. GOACC is scheduling them for a StrOlean date (not yet scheduled).  More information can be found online at www.oleanny.com. Registration for the M3 can be found at shop.oleanny.com, call 716-372-4433 or email info@oleanny.com
