2024 Allegany Nature Pilgrimage
State Park Plans Over 120 Naturalist-Led Walks & Workshops in One Weekend

ALLEGANY STATE PARK – The 2024 Allegany Nature Pilgrimage is an outdoor learning experience that combines fun with a variety of nature-oriented activities. Registration for the 66th annual event, scheduled for May 31st through June 2nd, is now open at AlleganyNaturePilgrimage.com. Walk-in registrations can be made in-person at Camp Allegany in the Red House Area.
Both the experienced naturalist and the inquisitive beginner are welcomed to beautiful Allegany State Park in western New York State’s Cattaraugus County. The park’s more than 60,000 acres abound with plants and animals. Your biggest challenge will be choosing from the more than 120 programs, including over a dozen birding walks/talks, orienteering, astronomy, geology, family nature walks, mythology, mushrooms and fungi, bird banding, owl prowls, day and night programs. The evening Big Tent speakers featured this year are Jim McCormac presenting “Mysterious Moths: Growing the Darker Side of Butterflies” on Friday and Julie Lundgren offering “Allegany's Natural Wonders” on Saturday. McCormac’s talk on one of the most important animal groups will be a pictorial journey into an intriguing and little known world that unfolds all around us. Lundgren will guide a virtual expedition into Allegany State Park, the largest protected forest land in New York outside of the Adirondacks and Catskills.
