Tony’s Tastee Freeze

Seasonal Ice Cream & Snack Bar in Salamanca is open for the season and under new ownership

Summer heat and sweet treats, Tony’s Tastee Freeze is back and scooping up everyone’s favorite ice cream dishes! Operating under new ownership, the Salamanca community staple welcomed guests to their soft opening last month and continues to serve up fan favorites daily!

Tony’s Tastee Freeze has been the go-to ice cream stand of the community, with the previous ownership having lasted 18 years. When news hit that business partners, Aimee Terhune and Lisa Rettberg were ready to close shop, there was plenty of encouragement for a new owner to step in and take over the business lease. Luckily, the perfect match was made. Brenden Chudy, a business graduate of Jamestown Business College and Salamanca native, put in his bid and to his excitement officially became the new owner of Tony’s Tastee Freeze.

Situated at 525 Broad Street at the corner of Eagle Street, and built in 1995, the ice cream stand began their season mid-May with 10 employees currently joining in the efforts. The opening was long awaited for by locals who take it as their summer kickoff and cheers to annual ice cream cones on the patio. Welcoming back their favorite flavors and food items, Brenden plans to keep the previous menu features and is hopeful to expand for the next year. In fact, he explained how this is the year of exploring options and getting a feel for the business. They currently serve all the summertime essentials like hot dogs, hamburgers, pizza logs, french fries, and more. Of course, let’s not forget about all the cold treats to pair those with. Classic banana split sundaes, soft serves, slushies, dairy-free vanilla and over 20 Perry’s hard scoop flavors to choose from… you’ll never run out of options to explore!

As a kid growing up in Salamanca, Brenden Chudy knows just how much joy Tony’s Tastee Freeze gives to the neighborhood and wants to share that with generations to come. He has been working with plenty of local organizations and continues to look for ways to better serve his customers and community. This year they already have quite the lineup on their agenda as a sponsor for the little league soccer team, hosting the class of 2026 July car wash fundraiser in the parking lot, and hosting the 4th grade class end-of-the-school-year lunch. Hoping to keep up with their involvement, the ice cream stand plans to prepare for upcoming events at the park and school. Rain or shine, they are open every day of the week, from 11:00am-9:00pm, and sometimes extend beyond closing time. Tony’s Tastee Freeze is excited to make themselves available for anyone’s summertime schedule.

A new addition to the business is in the mix. Knowing what their customers need, Brenden wanted to add a level of service that could address quick on-the-go options. In case of rain or just a busy day around the town, they now plan to add a call-in service to place orders over the phone that can be brought out to your car. A new step for the business which has lacked a phone line in the past, Brenden hopes this will encourage an alternative option for those who need it. They hope to have this new serving style available soon. Be sure to follow along on their Facebook page (Tony’s Taste Freeze) for updates on the expected launch.

With the summer ahead, we can all plan to make a trip to Tony’s Tastee Freeze for the best cold treats and a quick bite to eat. Hoping that all goes well this coming season, Brenden plans to eventually expand operations into a year-round establishment. With that will come all the fun of seasonal flare and memories to make. Until then, let’s enjoy the months ahead and support one of our favorite summer spots. (Note: They are currently cash only while exploring credit card options. Swing by Tony’s Tastee Freeze and treat yourself to something sweet!
