ALLEGANY - HomeCare & Hospice is thrilled to announce the receipt of a $1,000 grant from the Fraser Fund through the United Way of Cattaraugus and Allegany Counties. This generous funding will support the purchase of two Samsung Galaxy Tab Active4 Pro tablets to improve patient care and enhance operational efficiency for hospice nurses.

The tablets will provide real-time access to patient records, care plans, and medical information, enabling staff to deliver more efficient and timely care, especially in the rural areas of Cattaraugus, Allegany, Genesee, and Wyoming counties. With these tablets, staff will be equipped to access and update critical information at the point of care, reducing delays and fostering better communication among caregivers, patients, and families.

"Our team is deeply committed to providing compassionate, comprehensive hospice care, and technology like these tablets allows us to do that more effectively," said Melissa Sullivan, CEO of HomeCare & Hospice. "This grant from the Fraser Fund ensures that we can continue meeting the needs of our patients and their families while navigating the challenges of serving rural communities."

The Samsung Galaxy tablets will also enable staff to offer patient education, telehealth services, and secure communication among team members, enhancing overall coordination and collaboration. Additionally, by reducing time spent on administrative tasks, the tablets will allow staff to focus on delivering high-quality, personalized care.

"The United Way is honored to support HomeCare & Hospice in their mission to serve patients with dignity and respect," said Sue McAuley, Executive Director of United Way of Cattaraugus and Allegany Counties. "The Fraser Fund’s contribution reflects the importance of innovative solutions in improving the quality of life for our communities."

HomeCare & Hospice provided care to over 500 hospice patients and their families in 2023, with 3,966 nursing visits and 1,789 aide visits. The new tablets will directly benefit this vital work, underscoring the organization's commitment to compassionate care and operational excellence.

HomeCare & Hospice encompasses a licensed home care program allowing patients with short-term needs or chronic conditions to remain in their own homes and a hospice program providing medical care and emotional support for patients and their families coping with a terminal illness.
