ELLICOTTVILLE - Holiday Valley and HoliMont are presenting the second annual UppenOvr, a fun spring activity that captures the popularity of uphill travel and raises money for Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Everyone is encouraged to enter the event (or just come for the party) on Saturday, March 15th. Advanced registration is $35; sign up and find out details at www.holidayvalley.com/event/uppenovr-2025. To participate, you’ll need touring skis, a splitboard, cross country skis or snowshoes and don’t forget your smile… and a costume wouldn’t hurt! You can take it seriously and go for the fastest male or female award, or make it social and just enjoy the journey with your friends.
The event will start at 3:00pm at Yodeler Lodge; the route heads up to Spruce Lake, across to HoliMont, down Sunset slope and back up to Spruce Lake, then back down to Yodeler Lodge. The total distance is about 3.5 miles with an elevation gain of 1,040 feet. Recharge along the way with a hydration/Fireball stop at Spruce Lake. Sounds like fun, eh?
Back at Yodeler Lodge, participants will be treated to hot dogs, beer, live music, prizes and awards, plus a unique basket raffle and silent auction. Spectators are welcome and beverages will be available for purchase.
This year’s auction will feature many unique and special items that you can’t buy anywhere else, along with donations from several Ellicottville area shops. A 50/50 raffle will also take place with the drawing at 7:00pm. You can start bidding and entering the basket raffle at 3:00pm. Stay tuned for more auction items to be announced.
The UppenOvr is also a fundraiser for the Team Holiday Valley cyclists who will ride across New York State in the Empire State Ride this July to benefit Roswell Park’s cancer research and clinical trials programs. Last year’s event raised $12,000 for Roswell, and each dollar raised will be matched by $23 in grants. Information about the Empire State Ride can be found at empirestateride.com. The Uppenovr crew is hoping for even more participants this year and an even bigger donation towards research at Roswell!
