Community Thanksgiving

Rotary Club of Ellicottville & St. Paul’s Church invite all to gather together

ELLICOTTVILLE - Plans for Ellicottville’s first Community Thanksgiving Dinner are underway and with just a few days before the event, the Rotary Club of Ellicottville and St Paul’s Lutheran Church are focused on making sure everyone who could benefit from this community event is aware they are invited to attend.

“The generosity we’ve experienced is overwhelming,” said Darlene Allen, Rotary Committee Chairperson. “Cash donations from West Herr, Fitzpatrick & Weller, and the Sons of the American Legion really gave us a jump start on hitting our fundraising goal along with a sizeable donation from the Families of HoliMont. There have been several donations from the members of St Paul’s Lutheran Church as well as the local community. Nick Pitillo, owner of Villaggio, donated enough turkeys to feed 180 people, Ellicottville Bake Shop donated 150 pumpkin pie tarts, and Cupcaked donated 4 dozen cupcakes.”

Ellicottville Central Elementary School and the Cattaraugus Allegheny Board of Cooperative Educational Services (CABOCES) both have their students creating artwork that will become part of the décor planned for this special event. “It’s so exciting that our educators have involved their students in this charitable event. Their contributions are sure to complement the gourds, pumpkins and Indian corn Lisa Pawlowski of Pumpkinville donated,” said Darlene. “I’m so grateful to the community - we have over 50 people who have volunteered to help make this event a success.”

Everyone is invited! If you know of someone who will be alone for the holiday or unable to serve a meal themselves, make them aware of this event! The dinner will be held on Wednesday, November 27th, from 5:00-7:00pm at St Paul’s Lutheran Church located at 6360 Route 242 East here in Ellicottville. Guests can expect a traditional turkey dinner with all the trimmings served buffet style. Meals can be delivered locally to those who are unable to leave their home to attend and rides will be provided for those needing transportation. Call 716-430-8938 to reserve a seat, secure a ride, or request a home delivery.
