Tri County Arts Council Excited to Announce Their Newest Addition

OLEAN - Tri-County Arts Council is excited to announce the opening of our new TCAC Youth Art Gallery. The current exhibit showcases 20 remarkable pieces created by two talented young artists, Templeton (9) and Sara Horn (6) from Allegany, NY. Their works span a variety of mediums, including watercolor, graphic art, and steel.
The establishment of the Youth Gallery was made possible through the generosity of our donors and the proceeds from our "Fall into Art" Raffle. This opportunity is open to most ages of youth artists in our region and more information is available by contacting TCAC Executive Director Paula Bernstein. To ensure the continued success and sustainability of the gallery for future exhibitions, we are actively seeking a corporate sponsor. Please contact info@tricountyartscouncil.org if interested.
Templeton Z. Horn is 9-years-old and a 4th grader at Allegany Limestone Elementary. Here is his artist statement: “I enjoy doing art because there is no grade on it, there is no wrong answer, and anyone can do it if they set their mind to it. Nature is a good inspiration for art. Working on art can sometimes be stressful. When I feel like I need to stop I walk away and come back to the project an hour or a couple days later. Sometimes I work on art just for the fun of it and sometimes it is for a certain purpose. I have made hundreds of art projects and most of it is just for fun. I do art because I become inspired. Art is always an option. My ideas sometimes come from nature or videos online or just pictures and paintings that I've seen in person. Art relaxes my mind and takes it away from other stressful stuff like homework or chores. If you are stressed, you should go do some art and it will clear your mind. I recommend other kids do art because I believe that all kids are artists, and they deserve a chance. All kids have talent. Even if you don't think you are great at art, you can have talent in your own way and could practice and become a famous artist. My favorite kind of art to do is watercolor or abstract pictures. I enjoy painting watercolors of nature. I also really like to make comics, play with my kitten and puppy, and build with Legos. I love art so much that my dad made me my own website. Sara J. Horn is 6-years-old and a 1st grader at Allegany Limestone Elementary. Here is her artist statement: “I like art because you can make art out of lots of different things. For example, art can be made from toys, recycled products, things you find outside like leaves… art can be made out of anything! I feel like art is really calming. I think if more kids did art, they would be happier. My favorite kind of art to make is painting because it is very soothing. When I see something really pretty and picturesque like a sunset, flowers, my puppy or kitten, I want to take a picture of it and make it into a painting. I also like to play Barbies, I like to dance, and I like to play outside on the monkey bars. I love my puppy Macy, my kitten Eudora and all unicorns. See my website at Sarasuperhorn.com.”
The Tri-County Arts Council advocates for the creation and appreciation of arts and culture in the region. TCAC is always open to the public and adding to their Artisan Market and class schedule. We now have new hours from Tuesday-Friday from 10:00am-5:00pm and Saturday from 10:00am-4:00pm for the month of December.
