Area restaurants encouraged to sign up for November fundraising campaign


ALLEGANY - HomeCare & Hospice’s Chief Executive Officer, Melissa Sullivan reported, “We’re excited to announce that November is Hospice Awareness Month, and we’re rolling out a brand-new fundraiser: Dining Out for Hospice - and we’d love for you to join us!” 

What is HomeCare & Hospice? HomeCare & Hospice (HCH) offers compassionate, end-of-life care, bringing together a dedicated team of nurses, doctors, social workers, spiritual care providers, aides, and volunteers. Our mission is to help patients spend their final days, weeks, or months comfortably at home, with dignity, while providing excellent pain and symptom management to ensure the best possible quality of life. HCH serves patients in communities across Allegany, Cattaraugus, Genesee, and Wyoming counties.

“We’re partnering with the area’s top restaurants for a week of giving,” said Sullivan. “When patrons dine at your establishment, they’ll have the opportunity to contribute anywhere from 25% to 100% of their bill to support Hospice. It’s a delicious way to give back and make a difference in our community.

Dine Out For Hospice is a new campaign intended to increase support for our organization and our local restaurants by encouraging our supporters to dine out at these restaurants. Our goal is to drive more customers to these fine restaurants and promote HCH in the process.”

If you are a restaurant, all you have to do is choose a week in November to participate (November 1-7, Nov 8-14, Nov 15-21 or Nov 22-27). HCH will promote the event with a digital flyer made for your business, through social media, press releases, and our website. (Information was emailed/mailed out to more than 120 restaurants in our 4-county service area.)

Hometown Bar & Grill of Allegany is the first of the many amazing, local restaurants to participate in this campaign. Patti Smith, Hometown’s Manager, stated, “We would love to participate… this is a great fundraiser! The services Hospice provides is amazing and truly a relief to the families in need.”

November was chosen for the fundraiser as it is National Hospice and Palliative Care Month.  The month is a time to raise awareness of hospice and palliative care, and to recognize the work of hospice professionals and volunteers. 

The fundraiser is a donation on top of the cost of the restaurant bill. Each restaurant will track the donations they receive and send their total at the end of their fundraising campaign to the corporate offices of HCH in Allegany.
