Lucky Day Homestead Invites Women to Re-Connect with the Wild Side of Life

Amongst the rolling hills, just 8 miles northeast of Ellicottville, sits Lucky Day Homestead. Built in 1850, the homestead was re-established in 2010, slowly rising from the rubble to provide a unique experience for visitors in small groups from around the world - a rustic guest cabin, campsites near the gardens and one hike in hike out on the peninsula in the moraine forest of the 30 acre estate. The 123-year-old barn provides a unique space for homesteading workshops, adorned with antiques and historical memorabilia from the surrounding area.  Small wedding ceremonies and elopement packages are among the estate’s many requests in 2024 and an exclusive photography spot for couples and families to utilize.

Lucky Day Homestead offers an array of services and also travels throughout the surrounding area to engage with clients. Custom event desserts, private chef services in your home or rental, and at-home identification of wild plants and medicinal herbs are amongst the off-premise services available.

At the homestead, we greet folks from near and far to the farm-stand bakery to enjoy our pies, cookies and fresh baked breads, seasonal veggies, honey, herbs and locally made gifts.  Throughout the changing seasons booking cooking classes and crafting workshops, raised bed garden classes, foraging workshops, tea and edible flower clinics, hosting to families, individuals and corporate groups.

That leads us to the WOMEN IN THE WILD RETREAT August 1-20th. Annually we organize an event geared towards women reconnecting with the wild side of life - earthing, learning and engaging with nature. The unique terrain is adequate for various skill levels, on some of the most breathtaking and untouched land just outside the village.

This all-inclusive retreat includes fly-fishing, edible and medicinal herbs and flowers, tea making, tracking and trailing wild game, calibers and introduction to hunting, stretch meditation, and a Saturday night drum circle. All meals and camping accommodations are included in the price of the retreat, or stay in your chalet or nearby rental.

Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights we gather for a farm-to-table dinner at 6:00pm under the stars, family dinner style with wine and craft brews. Breakfast is served at our private pond following a stretch meditation class or fly-fishing clinic. Lunches take place in the gardens while learning about foraging for teas or gathering herbs and drying for winter use.

This retreat offers three days of fun in nature, though there are relaxing times to visit the village shops or lay in the fields with your favorite book. Each moment of this weekend is dedicated to reconnecting you to mother earth and building your confidence in the skills that our grandmothers used in their daily lives to care for and heal their families. The full agenda can be discussed by calling Lucky Day Homestead at 716-353-0193.

We welcome you to venture to the homestead during the bakery hours to simply pop into the farm stand and pick up some fresh baked goods to indulge. Come as a couple to stay for a few nights in the cabin and soak in the countryside, plan your elopement or small wedding or rehearsal dinner, call and request our services to cook in your chalet, or book an adventure for your bachelorette party or family weekend while visiting the area!
