Local Rotary Clubs Host Online & Silent Auction
In times like this, “Service Above Self” is more important than ever. To further help them achieve that motto, the Rotary Clubs of Ellicottville and Olean are hosting an on-line and silent basket auction in conjunction with the Upper Allegheny Health System, “Pulse of the Community Gala” on Friday evening, September 22, in the Main Lodge at Holiday Valley.
The basket auction will begin on-line Tuesday, September 19th and end with a live silent auction, on Friday evening, September 22nd, in the Main Lodge at the base of Holiday Valley. WATCH social media for the link!
Baskets to be auctioned include such high-ticket items as Buffalo Sabres tickets with hotel accommodations and dinner at a Buffalo restaurant, an Alex Tuck autographed hockey stick, golf passes for Springville Country Club, Penn Hills Country Club and Holiday Valley Double Black Diamond Golf Course.
Additionally, VIP Passes for the Ellicottville Summer Music Festival 2024, Delta Round Trip Airfare in Comfort Plus, spa, hair styling, restaurant and other business gift card packages from the many generous local establishments will be auctioned off. There will be overnight accommodations packages to several of the beautiful establishments in the village, a Membership to the new Cigar Club and Lounge, Cygaro and much more. This is a great opportunity to get some Holiday Shopping done while supporting such a worthy organization as the Rotary and the many causes it supports.

The Rotary Club of Ellicottville has been a driving civic and social service organization since 1999. Throughout the years they have supported the community and area youth by various means. This support has included the local library’s summer intern and reading programs, as well as donations to the Ellicottville Central School system of iPads for the pre-K classroom, microscopes for high schoolers and lunches during COVID. Annually scholarships are awarded to top performing graduates. The Rotary also supports the food pantries of Ellicottville and Great Valley. They will be hosting a Halloween party for the local youth in conjunction with the Lutheran Church. They do a community clean up day each year on Earth Day and work closely with the Chamber of Commerce on various activities.
The Rotary Club of Olean and its members have been a part of the fabric of the Olean-area community since 1928. Rotary’s current members patronize all Olean-area businesses and have donated hundreds of thousands of dollars over the years to many Olean-area causes and organizations. For example, they have given mini grants to area teachers in Olean, Hinsdale, and Allegany; given dictionaries to more than 300 area third graders; and served more than 300 dinners to veterans and the community. Last year, they used a Rotary matching grant to replace the steps at the Olean Theater Workshop on Washington Street, and this year they are helping Olean Food Pantry and SCPA to improve their facilities.
Proceeds from this event will be used by the Rotary Clubs in furtherance of their missions of service to the local community.
