Tee Up “Fore” High School Scholarships and to Help ERA Real Estate Fight ALS

Of all the ways to raise money, few are more fun and challenging than a golf tournament! From tee sponsors to prize donors, to teams of local golfers, golf tournaments bring together so many members of the community for a memorable day in support of a great cause. On August 23rd, you can “tee up ‘fore’ high school scholarships” through the Chautauqua Cattaraugus Board of Realtors Golf Outing and raise money for the ALS Association through the 14th annual Agents of Hope Golf Tournament hosted by ERA Team VP Real Estate!

BOARD OF REALTORS GOLF OUTING

On Wednesday, August 23rd, Holiday Valley is hosting the Chautauqua Cattaraugus Board of Realtors Golf Outing in memory of Dennis B. Jones. This is the first year that Holiday Valley is hosting the event, which raises money for scholarships, which are awarded annually to four graduating high school seniors from Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties. Sign-in begins at 11:00am and the tournament kicks off with a shotgun start at 1:00pm on the Black Diamond course. In addition to the tournament itself, there are many other opportunities to win, including a putting contest, corn hole toss, basket raffle, 50/50 tickets, and a lottery apron.

Kyle Benish, Holiday Valley’s golf pro, is looking forward to the 23rd and the camaraderie that a tournament creates. “It’s a fun, team-based event,” he said. “Sporting events can always make for a relaxed atmosphere for all to enjoy in a recreational setting that is stress free.” Speaking of relaxed, there is plenty for non-golfers to enjoy at the tournament, too. For a small fee of $5, non-golfers can come to the tournament, sit by the pool, and play outdoor games while others golf.

What makes Holiday Valley such a great place to host a golf outing? Well, there are several reasons, according to Benish. For one, “the level of service and organization running large full-scale events,” said Benish, along with Holiday Valley’s scenic views and “unmatched amenities with a large on-site food and beverage operation.”

To sign up a team of golfers, become a sponsor, or simply make a donation to the event, contact Kelly Patrone at 716-353-3222. More information and a sign-up form can be found through the Chautauqua Cattaraugus Board of Realtors’ Facebook page.

AGENTS OF HOPE

Also on August 23rd, ERA Team VP Real Estate & Vacation Rentals will be hosting their 14th annual ALS Agents of Hope Golf Tournament at the Chautauqua Golf Club. ALS, which stands for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. The disease, which begins with an individual’s inability to control muscle movement, ultimately leads to paralysis. According to the ALS Association, every 90 minutes, someone is diagnosed and someone passes away from ALS. There is no cure, and 90% of cases occur without any family history.

ERA Team VP Real Estate firmly believes that “through community involvement, we can make a difference in the lives of those living with this devastating disease.” In fact, multiple families and friends within the company have been personally affected by ALS. Since the tournament began in 2010, ERA Team VP, with the help of the community, has raised over $140,000 for the fight against ALS! Beginning at 10:00am on the 23rd, you, too, can be part of this amazing effort through their upcoming tournament at the Chautauqua Golf Club, 4731 West Lake Road, right across the street from Chautauqua Institution.
