“Why Don’t My Hydrangeas Bloom?”

“Why Don’t My Hydrangeas Bloom?”

Retired Master Gardener, Pat Kerl Explains

“Why don’t my hydrangeas bloom?” is a very common question asked at Garden Centers and of Master Gardeners.

Join us on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, 7:00 pm at the Ellicottville Town Center/Nannen Arboretum to get some answers to that question. Pat Kerl, Nannen Arboretum member and retired Master Gardener, will discuss the various species of hydrangeas and their cultural requirements in our growing area. For each of six species, she will explore their:

Origin

Hardiness Zone

Sun/Shade/Wind Tolerance

Blooming Characteristics

Pruning Requirements

Old Wood vs. New Wood

We will meet in the auditorium of the Town Center and, time and weather permitting, visit a few hydrangeas growing in the arboretum. Admission is free and refreshments will be served. This our third quarterly educational session in 2023.
