Who doesn’t want to host that party or event guests will still be talking about months or even years later? One way to stand out from the rest is to provide beverages in style! If you are in the planning process for a family party or large event, go beyond a few coolers full of ice and canned drinks. Consider booking the Wandering Wagon, a mobile bar that services the Southern Tier! Owned by Emily Keating of West Valley, the Wandering Wagon is perfect for weddings, rehearsal dinners, corporate events, birthday parties, graduations, wine tastings, festivals and more. And it all started with a horse trailer…
Keating was initially inspired by mobile bar ideas she found on Pinterest. “I just thought it was something really neat and different that I haven’t seen,” said Keating. “So we searched for a while for used horse trailers, and then we ended up finding one brand new that we ended up converting.” The trailer was purchased in April of this year, and by mid-July, it was fully converted to a beautiful mobile bar! Keating, her fiancé, and his friends did all the work on the trailer, including cutting out the serving window and installing flooring, a bar top, plumbing, and more.
The Wandering Wagon is a “dry hire,” due to New York state’s liquor laws. “If you decide to book a package with the bartender, we provide the ice, cups, napkins, garnishes, and all of the mixers,” Keating explained. “It’s just the client would have to provide the actual alcohol.” However, serving up alcoholic beverages is only a part of what the Wandering Wagon can do! The mobile bar can serve as a coffee stand or serve non-alcoholic drinks and mocktails. This summer, their blueberry lemonade made with fresh local blueberries has been a hit. The wagon is versatile enough that Keating has even considered branching out and having a flower bar where guests can make their own bouquet of flowers.
Although the business is barely two months old, the Wandering Wagon has already been booked for graduation and birthday parties this summer and partnered with Ellicottville Distillery to offer a sampling at Lucky Day Homestead’s summer solstice event. Keating is already booking weddings for next summer.
The Wandering Wagon can travel just about anywhere within an hour’s radius and will travel further for an additional fee.
