Letter to Local Businesses

Letter to Local Businesses

From the Village of Ellicottville Mayor and Board

Dear Business Owners,

As we continue to work together to enhance the vitality and charm of our village, we wanted to reach out to you with an idea that we believe could benefit both your business and the community.

By having your employees park in the free village parking lot, you can help increase retail traffic on Main Street and make it easier for customers to visit your stores. When employees park in the lot, it opens spaces on Main Street for customers, which can lead to increased foot traffic and more business for local shops and restaurants.

In addition to the benefits for your business, we believe that this initiative can also have a positive impact on the overall quality of life in our community. By reducing congestion and traffic in the area, we can create a safer, more pleasant environment in our Village. Business’s might consider offering Valet parking to the lot on the weekends as well.

During the planning stages of the parking lot there was discussion among the various business owners on how employees might be encouraged to park in the lot. The Mayor & Board would like to propose an incentive program for your consideration and feedback. Businesses could include:

  • offering a bonus or discount for employees who park in the lot

  • providing an extra break or flextime for employees who use the lot during their lunch break

  • a free or reduced meal during their shift,

  • or creating a "parking lottery" where employees who use the lot are entered into a weekly or monthly drawing for a prize.

If you are interested in participating in this initiative, please let us know by the next Village Board Meeting on August 20th, so that we can work together to implement the program. We would be happy to provide any necessary support or guidance to make this program and parking lot project a success.

Thank you for your time and consideration. We look forward to hearing from you soon.

Best regards,

The Village of Ellicottville Mayor and Board
