Bob McCarthy Foundation Receives Donation from Retiring ECS Teacher
Karl Schwartz celebrated his retirement along with many friends, former students and colleagues at Madigan’s before his retirement in June. Karl retired after 28 years of teaching High School Chemistry & Biology as well as serving as the Athletic Director at Ellicottville Central School. Karl who lives in Ellicottville with his family is a graduate from Saint Bonaventure University and has been involved in many charitable functions over the years.
Karl wanted to start retirement off right by paying it forward donating proceeds from a 50/50 draw that he organized at the Party. He asked his kids to use their media skills to reach out to the community for his party. Madigan's did a great job and in spite of the heat the party was a great success. In the picture above Karl hands off his donation to Anne Northrup of the Bob McCarthy Foundation (BMF) a local 501c3 organization.
Karl knew Bob McCarthy well and is very familiar with the Foundation’s work with kids at ECS over the years. The Foundation provides numerous scholarships, a Summer Learning program, support for the senior trip and many other student centric programs. We appreciate Karl’s thoughtful gesture as it will help with these and many other programs here in Ellicottville.
