On Exhibit at the Ellicottville Memorial Library
ELLICOTTVILLE - A collection of beautiful charcoal drawings is currently featured at the Ellicottville Memorial Library through November 2022. These captivating works, created by Arcade resident Stacy Gertis, include bucolic landscapes, intricately detailed barns and villages, and heart-warming portraits.
Stacy comments on her artistic journey: “I am a freelance charcoal artist, graphic designer, and author. I have always had a strong passion for art, even at a young age while attending summer schools through receiving my BA in college. Working with charcoal is my true passion. I take such joy in creating landscapes that surround us as well as custom portraits of loved ones and pets.”
Stacy grew up in the rural farming town of Pawlet, Vermont. Showing interest in art at a young age, she took classes at the Southern Vermont Arts Center and another taught by the well-known artist Peter Huntoon in Rutland, Vermont. She developed a passion for art throughout her life and tested many different mediums, but charcoal was by far her favorite.
A graduate of Castleton University, Stacy holds a BA in Art with minors in Art History and Graphic Design. She has had multiple solo exhibits in Vermont and New York and has donated prints of her artwork to local churches for fundraisers and various auctions. Stacy is currently painting a mural in downtown Arcade.
Come view Stacy’s works at the Ellicottville Memorial Library, 6499 Maples Road in Ellicottville, NY, just a short walk from downtown. Hours are 10:00am-5:00pm daily; closed Sunday. Evening hours are 5:00-8:00pm Tuesday and Wednesday.
