Summer Intern Position Available at Ellicottville Memorial Library

ELLICOTTVILLE - The Ellicottville Memorial Library is pleased to announce a generous donation of funds received from the Rotary Club of Ellicottville’s Foundation for Youth. These funds will be used to hire a local student as a summer intern to help with the children’s Summer Reading Program.   “We are excited because this additional person will give us the ability to provide more programs and activities to the 100+ children that sign up each summer for our Summer Reading Program,” said Laura Flanagan, Library Director.

The theme for this year’s Summer Reading Program is “Oceans of Possibilities” and will concentrate on marine animals and their habitats.  This program not only helps motivate children to read but it also develops positive attitudes about reading and books.  It also helps children maintain their reading skills over summer vacation.

“We are looking for a self-motivated, creative person to help develop programs and events in conjunction with the Summer Reading Program,” said Flanagan.  “This would include developing games, activities, contests, etc. focusing on this summer’s theme.”  Prospective applicants should be very familiar with social media, basic computer programs, have an interest in working with children and an enthusiasm for reading.

Any student interested in applying for this position should stop by the Ellicottville Memorial Library or call 716-699-2842 for information.  The intern must be currently enrolled in college or planning on attending college this fall and preference will be given to Ellicottville Central School graduates.

The position will run from June 20th through August 5th. (These dates can be adjusted by one week if necessary to accommodate school schedules.) The pay rate is 30 hours per week at $13.20 per hour.  Please submit an application and resume by June 3rd.  The Ellicottville Memorial Library is located at 6499 Maples Road.
