Chamber Announces Headline Acts For the 22nd Annual Jazz & Blues Weekend

July 23-25, 2021

ELLICOTTVILLE - The Ellicottville Chamber of Commerce is very excited to announce the headliners for the 22nd annual Jazz & Blues Weekend, plus 20 other musical acts that will be playing throughout the 4-block footprint of Ellicottville July 23rd-25th, and it’s all FREE!

On Saturday, July 24th at 1:00pm, Alex McCarthur will be singing the blues with the Dr. John Bacon Blues Band at the Winery of Ellicottville outdoor Main Stage on Monroe Street.

Alex is a dynamic and versatile singer that has become known as one of the region’s top talents. She has a great love for Blues music which she’ll be showcasing in this performance. Her musical theatre and voice studies at the University at Buffalo opened up a variety of performance opportunities that brought her association with some of the most highly esteemed musicians that have helped her career flourish. Having been awarded the Jazz Buffalo Rising Star Award and Best Female Jazz Vocalist 2018, she subsequently has been featured on shows with the likes of internationally known saxophonist Bobby Militello, along with George Caldwell and John Bacon Jr.

For this show with The Dr. John Bacon Group, it’s namesake drummer, guitarist Ron Locurto, organist Gerry Youngman, and bassist Rick Fadale will all be featured, as each one is an exceptional musician.

On Sunday, July 25th at 1:00pm, the presentation on the outdoor Main State will be The Joe Baudo Big Band with vocalist Denise Behag. For your listening pleasure, this 10-piece band led by bandleader/keyboardist/Buffalo Music Hall of Fame inductee Joe Baudo will be playing a familiar variety of music of Jazz/pop/motown songs, upbeat favorites and more, all meticulously arranged in the style of the big band era.

Both bands look forward to presenting an entertaining visual show and creating a memorable experience for all that attend. In the case of rain, Saturday’s performance will be moved indoors to Balloons Restaurant; Sunday’s performance will be moved inside Villaggio. Start times will remain the same.
